To ask the Chancellor of the exchequer, what fiscal steps she is taking to reduce inequality in a) Newcastle-under-Lyme and b) Staffordshire.

The Government is committed to improving living standards for everyone and ensuring that growth is felt across all parts of the UK, including Newcastle-under-Lyme and Staffordshire. The Government’s central mission is to deliver sustained economic growth, which is the most effective way to raise living standards and prosperity across the UK.
The Government has already removed the two child limit in Universal Credit, that will lift 450,000 children out of poverty. It has also increased the National Living Wage by 4.1% to £12.71 per hour for eligible workers aged 21 and over. This is alongside strengthening local support and building financial resilience through the new Crisis and Resilience Fund and expanding Family Hubs to offer universal and targeted support for parents and children.

The chancellor of the exchequer is the government's chief financial minister and as such is responsible for raising government revenue through taxation or borrowing and for controlling overall government spending.
The chancellor's plans for the economy are delivered to the House of Commons every year in the Budget speech.
