The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology published guidance for staff related to the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) in June 2024. We are updating this guidance to reflect our recently published Equality Objectives and to provide additional support for staff across DSIT to continue to discharge our legal obligations under the Equality Act 2010. We anticipate this project will be completed by the end of the 2026/27 financial year. Therefore, we will not be placing a copy of the updated guidance in the Library of the House at this time.

Secretary of State

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
