To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, what assessment his Department has made of the potential merits of extending permitted development rights for development of roads within road corridors akin to those already in existence in rail corridors.

There are already permitted development rights – set out in Part 9 of Schedule 2 of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order (England) 2015, as amended – which grant planning permission for development relating to roads.
We continue to keep permitted development rights under review.
