To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, whether she has had discussions with her (i) Irish and (ii) EU counterparts regarding the Aughinish Alumina refinery and reported links to Putin.

Further to the answer provided on 11 June in response to Question 7960, the Foreign Secretary met her Irish counterpart on 22 June, and discussed the efforts both countries are making to support Ukraine, and maximise pressure on Russia's war economy.

The UK remains committed to working closely with allies and partners around the world, including the EU and other European partners, to amplify the impact and strength of our sanctions, and economic pressure on Russia.

Secretary of State

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
