The Government recognises the importance of supporting appropriate development through the planning system. That is why, earlier this year, we consulted on a set of policies within the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) which looks to set out planning considerations specific to freight and logistics development and its associated infrastructure. This includes access to transport networks, appropriate secure lorry parking provision, and motorway service facilities. The Government is considering the responses made as part of the consultation and will issue a response in due course.

Secretary of State

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
