To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what assessment he has made of the adequacy of meals on wheels provision in (a) the Brighton and Hove local authority area and (b) other areas; and what steps he is taking to improve provision.

No assessment has been made of the adequacy of meals on wheels provision in Brighton and Hove or other areas.
Local authorities are best placed to understand and plan for the needs of their population, which is why, under the Care Act 2014, they are tasked with the duty to shape their care markets to meet the diverse needs of all local people.
In undertaking these duties, there are elements of good market shaping practice that can be applied more widely. These include encouraging a wide range of service provision to ensure that people have a choice of appropriate and high quality care services in their local area.
The Government is making over £4.6 billion of additional funding available for adult social care in 2028/29 compared to 2025/26, to support the sector in making improvements, including the provision of care services.
