To ask the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, what assessment she has made of the adequacy of legislation relating to online content creators featuring children in their content without parental consent.

The Government takes children's safety and privacy very seriously. Organisations processing personal data, including content creators acting in a business capacity, must comply with the UK's data protection legislation. This includes ensuring processing is lawful, fair and transparent. Individuals, including parents or responsible adults acting on a child's behalf, have the right to object to the use of their data. If they fail to comply, they can be reported to the ICO, who enforces the legislation independently of government.

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
