To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how many (a) Islamist, (b) extreme right wing and (c) other terrorist threats have been prevented in each year since 2020.

On 16 October 2025, MI5 Director General Ken McCallum delivered an annual update on the national security threats currently facing the UK. During this update, he stated that since the start of 2020 MI5 and the police have disrupted 19 late-stage attack plots. Nevertheless, further details or a breakdown of these disruptions cannot be disclosed, as doing so could compromise ongoing investigations and broader national security operations.

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
