To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, if she will make it her policy to require local authorities to have net zero climate plans and targets.

Many local authorities have already, or are developing, plans and strategies to make progress towards net zero. Local authorities have flexibility and discretion in how they take action, as they have very varied local opportunities, needs and circumstances. Government is supportive of this work and recognises that local authorities play an essential role in driving local climate action.
