To ask the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, what information his Department holds on the number of council staff vacancies in each year since 2015.

Local authorities are independent employers and are responsible for managing their own workforces and staff vacancies. The Department does not collect this data centrally.

Secretary of State

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
