To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, what recent discussions the Government has had with the authorities in Cameroon on the potential merits of participation in the peace process facilitated by the Government of Canada; and whether his Department has offered support to the Government of Cameroon in relation to participation in that peace process.

Inclusive dialogue is critical to achieving a peaceful resolution to the conflict in the North-West South-West regions of Cameroon. The Minister of State for Development and Africa [Minister Mitchell] highlighted this during his visit to Cameroon in April 2023, in meetings with members of the Cameroonian Government including with the Prime Minister and Secretary General to the Presidency. He also pressed the importance of a negotiated peaceful solution and reiterated the UK's commitment to responding to the impacts of the conflict with humanitarian assistance. We have continued to raise these points with the Cameroonian Government and partners in subsequent engagements.
