The 2019/20 Pensions Annual Allowance Compensation Charge reimbursement provision entered in the 2021/22 NHS England accounts is £290 million. This covers the commitment to pay clinicians in the National Health Service Pension Scheme for the effect of the Scheme Pays deduction on their income from the NHS Pension Scheme in retirement, in line with the ministerial direction to the Department and NHS England.
