The UK will use the upcoming Fifth Review Conference to promote our vision for the future of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and the role it plays in deterring and responding to the use of chemical weapons. We believe that the OPCW plays an essential role in preventing the use of chemical weapons, promoting accountability and building capacity to implement the Chemical Weapons Convention. We are underlining to other states parties our support for these core principles and our determination to uphold the international ban on chemical weapons use.
