We have made no specific assessment of the impact of Brexit on the UK’s medical workforce or trends in the level of NHS recruitment. In September 2022 there were over 71,700 NHS staff employed who reported an EU/EEA nationality. This is 21% (12,600) more than in June 2016 and includes an increase of over 800 (8%) EU/EEA doctors.
