To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, how much his Department plans to spend on active travel in the period between 2020-21 and 2024-25.

The total projected spend on active travel from multiple cross-Government funding streams between 2021-22 and 2024-25 is outlined in the Second Cycling and Walking Investment Strategy (CWIS2), published on 6 July 2022. This estimate is due to updated in the next CWIS Report to Parliament, expected to be published in 2024.
The period 2020-21 was part of the CWIS1 funding period which covered the period between 2016-17 and 2020-21. The total estimated investment in active travel during this period was over £3bn, as outlined in the Second CWIS Report to Parliament which was also published on 6 July 2022.

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
