To ask the Secretary of State for Education, with reference to the audit by the Information Commissioner's Office of national pupil data handling by her Department, carried out in February 2020, what her planned timetable is for the (a) implementation of the required actions arising from that audit and (b) publication of her Department's action plan.

In February 2020, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) conducted a wide-ranging audit into the Department’s data practices. The Department requested that the audit be widened to cover an emerging issue on the 'Learning Records Service', so that the Department could take early action against any recommendations. As at 9 November 2022, 15 of the original 139 recommendations are outstanding. The Department continues to work closely with the ICO to complete the remainder of the outstanding recommendations by April 2023. The Department will publish an update on progress by the end of 2022, and a copy will be placed in the libraries of both Houses.
