Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office written question – answered on 3rd November 2022.
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, what discussion he has had with the United Nations on delays to the passage of grain ships near the Bosporus Strait.
We are in regular contact with United Nations officials on the implementation of the Black Sea Grain Initiative. It is clear that the current delays in the Bosporus are a direct result of Russia suspending its involvement in the Initiative. The UK strongly urges Russia to resume its cooperation under the agreement so that shipments of grain can continue to leave Ukrainian Black Sea ports for countries around the world. The UK also continues to support UN led efforts to bring the parties together to extend the agreement beyond 19 November.
