To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what assessment she has made of the potential merits of introducing a national prostate cancer screening programme similar to the breast cancer and cervical cancer screening programmes.

No assessment has been made. The UK National Screening Committee (UK NSC) does not currently recommend the introduction of prostate screening, as there is no accurate test. There is insufficient evidence for clinicians to determine those men who require treatment and those who may be safely monitored. The UK NSC plans to review the evidence for prostate cancer screening in 2023 and an updated recommendation will be made.
