Department of Health and Social Care written question – answered on 5th September 2022.
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, whether he is taking steps to help ensure that public health has a prominent role in the new Integrated Care Systems and in the strategies they produce.
Integrated care systems will work with a range of local health and care organisations on priorities such as addressing health disparities and improving population health.
Integrated care partnerships are required by the Health and Care Act 2022 to develop integrated care strategies on how the health needs identified in local Joint Strategic Needs Assessments will be met. We anticipate that forthcoming statutory guidance for these strategies will highlight improving population health, prevention of ill-health and health protection and the importance of involving local Directors of Public Health in the preparation of the strategies.
