To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what recent discussions he has had with representatives of the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) on negotiations relating to the planned strike action on 27 July 2022.

Negotiations on matters such as pay must take place between the trade unions and the employer. The Secretary of State is in close touch with the industry on the negotiations and frequently engages with them.

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
