To ask the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, if he will make it his policy to reinstate the provisions of The Local Authorities and Police and Crime Panels (Coronavirus) (Flexibility of Local Authority and Police and Crime Panel Meetings) (England and Wales) Regulations 2020 to enable local authorities to hold virtual meetings, in the context of the rise in covid-19 infections.

The Government launched a call for evidence last year to gather views and inform a longer-term decision about whether to make express provision for councils to meet remotely and in hybrid form on a permanent basis.  The department has considered the responses to the consultation and the Government will respond shortly.
