To ask the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, with reference to the policy paper, Levelling Up and Regeneration: further information, published on 11 May 2022, how many local authorities have indicated to his Department that they would welcome the power to increase council tax liability by up to 100 per cent on second homes.

The Government has recognised the impact that large numbers of second homes can have on the sustainability and viability of local communities. The council tax premium on second homes will be discretionary, and it will be for local authorities to decide whether to apply such a premium.
