As per the Cabinet Office’s Governance Code for Public Appointments, Ministers should be assisted in their decision making by Advisory Assessment Panels. All shortlisted candidates were interviewed by the Advisory Assessment Panel which included a departmental official and Senior Independent Panel Member. In line with the Governance Code, the names of all appointable candidates were then submitted to Ministers.
