The development of the Patient and Carers Race Equalities Framework (PCREF) is being overseen by the Advancing Mental Health Equalities Taskforce, the PCREF Steering Group and the PCREF Feedback Mechanism Group. The following four trusts have volunteered to help inform and test the PCREF:

- South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust;

- East London NHS Foundation Trust;

- Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust; and

- Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.

From Quarter 1 2022/23, NHS England and NHS Improvement will test the draft framework in the four pilot sites. Subject to the findings, NHS England and NHS Improvement aim to deploy the PCREF nationally in 2023/24.
