Treasury written question – answered at on 24 January 2022.
To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, what support his Department provides to help female entrepreneurs to access venture capital finance.
The government provides three tax-advantaged venture capital schemes: The Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS), the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS) and Venture Capital Trusts (VCTs).
The schemes provide a range of tax reliefs for investment into small and growing companies. They are designed to encourage investment in higher-risk, early-stage companies which face the biggest challenges in accessing growth capital.
The schemes are popular and well-established with stakeholders and are world-leading in terms of their generosity with over £2.7bn of funds raised across the three schemes in 2019-20.
