Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office written question – answered at on 13 September 2021.
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, what assessment he has made of the implications for his policies of the effect of Hurricane Ida; and what humanitarian assistance his Department is providing to US authorities in response to that Hurricane.
Ahead of COP26, the UK is working closely with the US on combatting climate change, and its links to the increasing frequency of severe weather events due to the rise in the average global temperature, as the most recent Working Group contribution to the sixth report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change outlines. We hope that this close collaboration will continue through our upcoming Presidency. No request for humanitarian assistance was made to the UK from the US authorities following Hurricane Ida.
