21 Pratt & Whitney F135 engines are fitted in the UK's F-35 Lightning fleet, all of which are serviceable and in working order, with their legal title residing with the UK. The UK does not hold spare F135 engines. Instead, the engines and their modules are swapped out when they need changing or repairing as part of the F-35 Global Spares Pool.
