To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what recent assessment he has made of the adequacy of mental health service provision in (a) Coventry, (b) the West Midlands and (c) England; and what assessment he has made of the effect of the covid-19 outbreak on mental health services.

Mental health services have remained open for business throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, providing support online, by phone and face to face where appropriate. For those with severe needs or in crisis, all National Health Service mental health providers in England, including those in Coventry and the West Midlands, have established 24 hours a day, seven days a week urgent mental health helplines since the start of the pandemic. Over the winter period, as part of our Wellbeing and Mental Health Support Plan for COVID-19, we have committed £50 million to boost capacity and support good quality discharge from inpatient settings for mental health service users, in all systems including those in Coventry and the West Midlands.
