The nuclear deterrent is not intended to deter crime. The UK has policies and capabilities to deal with the wide range of threats we currently face or might face in the future, including the threat of cyber crime. Our nuclear deterrent exists to deter the most extreme threats to our national security and way of life, which cannot be deterred by other means.
