Treasury written question – answered on 17th November 2020.
To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, if he will make it his policy to allocate an additional £1 billion to the Green Recovery Challenge Fund in the forthcoming spending review.
The Government remains committed to pursuing a green recovery, with concern for our environment at its heart. The £40m Green Recovery Challenge Fund opened to applications in September and will provide funding for projects across England to restore nature while creating and safeguarding jobs.
In order to prioritise the response to Covid-19, and our focus on supporting jobs, the Chancellor and the Prime Minister have decided to conduct a one-year Spending Review, setting departments’ resource and capital budgets for 2021-22, and Devolved Administrations’ block grants for the same period.
