To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, whether he plans to bring forward legislative proposals to amend the law on marriage to allow marriages to take place during the covid-19 lockdown.

The Government acknowledges the significant upheaval that Covid-19 is causing for couples who were looking to marry at this time. We are exploring what changes might be possible to facilitate marriages at this time, and in line with Public Health England guidance on social distancing.
