To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, what the timetable is for funding to be allocated from the Hardship Fund announced in Budget 2020 in response to the covid-19 outbreak.

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, what steps his Department is taking to ensure that funding from the covid-19 Hardship Fund is allocated on the basis of need.

Holding answer received on 19 March 2020

The Government will provide English councils with £500 million of new grant funding to support financially vulnerable residents, and expects that most of the funding will be used to provide additional council tax relief. The Government will set out further details and allocations for individual authorities in the coming days.
