To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, whether his Department has requested that retired East Coast High Speed Trains are not scrapped by the franchise owners; and whether he has concluded discussions with franchisees on the redeployment of East Coast High Speed trains to the CrossCountry franchise.

The future deployment of High Speed Trains (HSTs) previously leased by London North Eastern Railway (LNER) is a matter for the rolling stock owners to determine. This may include agreeing a lease with another party.
