To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what steps he is taking to reduce the risk of sexually transmitted diseases among people aged over 50.

Since 2013, local authorities in England have been mandated to provide genitourinary medicine and integrated services for the early diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including STI prevention programmes. These services are open-access with no upper age limit.

Public Health England published the Making It Work guidance in 2015 to support local authorities commissioning, available at the following link:

In addition, the HIV Innovation Fund supports local projects such as ‘Raising Awareness of HIV in the over 50’s’ to develop a local campaign and resources around sexual health, HIV testing, prevention and stigma directed at adults aged over 50.
