To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what steps her Department is taking to ensure consistency between local authorities on the waste that they collect for recycling.

The Government is committed to ensuring there is a comprehensive and consistent recycling service across England. The Environment Bill, published on 15 October, introduces legislation that will ensure local authorities collect a core set of recyclable materials from households from 2023.

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
