Treasury written question – answered at on 22 October 2019.
To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, what representations he has received on the level of local housing allowance.
The Government has frozen most working-age benefits, including LHA rates, for 4 years from 2016-17, as part of the effort to bring welfare spending under control, and ensure that it always pays more to be in work than to be out of work and claiming benefits. From April next year, the Government expects increases to working age benefits will resume in line with inflation, including the LHA.
