Department for Transport written question – answered at on 20 March 2019.
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, whether he plans to meet the specified deadline to develop the Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan.
Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plans (LCWIPs) were introduced through the Cycling and Walking Investment Strategy of April 2017 and are used by Local Authorities to identify and prioritise investment for cycling and walking schemes from local funds and relevant national funding streams. The Department for Transport is supporting the first tranche of 46 LCWIP authorities, the majority of which are on track to meet the deadline of November 2019 to produce their plans.
Decisions on further future funding for cycling and walking will be made in the context of the forthcoming Spending Review.
