To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, whether it remains Government policy to relinquish control of the Chagos Islands after they are no longer required for defence purposes.

We reiterate our longstanding commitment to cede sovereignty when we no longer need the territory for defence purposes.
