To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what assessment he has made of the outcomes of the live facial recognition trial recently undertaken by police forces.

The Metropolitan Police Service and South Wales Police are piloting auto-matic facial recognition. The pilots are important to test this technology, which has the potential for improving public safety. Both forces have com-missioned independent reviews of the pilots.
