To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, whether he has made contingency plans for an outbreak of African swine flu in the UK; and if he will make a statement.
Defra has robust contingency plans in place for dealing with outbreaks of exotic notifiable disease, including African swine fever, and these are regularly tested.
The Contingency plan for exotic notifiable diseases of animals in England 2018 is published and describes how government and operational partners prepare for and respond to an exotic notifiable disease outbreak or incident.
The Disease Control Strategy for African and Classical Swine Fever in Great Britain is published on GOV.UK and describes the actions that would be taken in the event of an outbreak of African swine fever.
