To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what assessment has been made of the consistency between B1 English tests carried out at different centres.

Consistency between B1 English tests is ensured by the testing providers (Trinity College London and IELTS SELT Consortium).

These Concessionaires provide this service through a concessionary agreement with the Home Office.

During the procurement of the concessions both suppliers provided evidence of how their tests mapped across to the Common European Framework of Reference for languages (CEFR) scale and this was independently assessed as part of the procurement. It is also part of the Concessionaires responsibility (under the concession) to ensure that their tests continue to map across to the CEFR.
