Holding answer received on 22 January 2019

The Sexual Offences Act 2003 provides a raft of offences to deal with sexual abuse and exploitation. These offences rightly carry robust sentences to deal with this serious offending.

The protection of the public from the scourge of sexual abuse remains a priority for this Government.

We recognise how important it is that the law on sexual offending is fit for purpose and we keep this area of the law under review, making changes to the law when appropriate.
