To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what estimate his Department has made of the total number of people using uncharted boats and ships to arrive in the UK in December 2018.

Over 500 migrants - mostly Iranian - attempted to travel to the UK on small vessels in 2018. 80% of them attempted this in the last three months of the year.

We are working across Government and with both domestic and international agencies to respond to this issue. A new UK-France Coordination and Information Centre has opened in Calais as part of the ongoing co-operation between the UK and France to tackle criminality at the border
