The Department for Transport’s Market Surveillance Unit undertakes an annual emissions testing programme of a range of road vehicles, including diesel cars. This includes laboratory testing and on-road measurement using portable emissions equipment to ensure that vehicles are compliant with relevant standards. The programme does not include roadside testing of vehicles.

Results of the 2018 programme will be published in early 2019.
