To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, pursuant to the Answer of 27 February 2018 to Question 127973, what assessment his Department has made of the cost to a landlord of a national register.

Government currently has no plans to introduce a system of national registration and as such has not made any detailed assessment of the cost of such a system. Government is instead focussed on tackling rogue landlords. In April 2018, using powers under the Housing and Planning Act 2016, we introduced a national database of rogue landlords and letting agents. We are committed to making this database publicly accessible as soon as parliamentary time allows.
