To ask the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, what recent assessment he has made of the future funding needs of the Charity Commission; and if he will make a statement.
As the regulator of charities in England and Wales, the Charity Commission performs an important service on behalf of the public.
The Commission has set out a new strategic direction and outlined what it believes is necessary to meet its purpose of ensuring charity can thrive and inspire trust so people can improve lives and strengthen society.
In January 2018, government awarded the Charity Commission an additional £5 million a year and, in the Civil Society Strategy, committed to work with the Commission to ensure it is placed on a secure and sustainable financial footing and adequately resourced to meet future challenges.
