To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, if he will make it his policy to include sickle cell anaemia on the list of conditions for which medical exemption certificates for NHS prescriptions can be obtained.

The Department has no current plans to do so. Extensive arrangements are in place to ensure that people can access affordable prescriptions.

Secretary of State

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
