To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, if he will undertake an assessment of the adequacy of the level of penalties for the infringement of intellectual property.

The Government is currently undertaking a comprehensive review of the intellectual property enforcement framework, as set out in its Enforcement Strategy “Protecting creativity, supporting innovation: IP Enforcement 2020”. This review will include an assessment of the adequacy of the current penalties for infringement of intellectual property rights, and is expected to be published in due course.
