Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government written question – answered at on 6 November 2018.
To ask Her Majesty's Government what assessment they have made of the impact of the Portas Review on UK high streets.
The Portas Review was published in December 2011, and the Government accepted all but one of the 28 recommendations. This included establishing 27 Portas Pilots. Following the Portas Pilots, the Government helped established over 330 Town Teams, each with £10,000 of funding.
We recognise that consumer behaviour has changed since 2011. We are taking action to help the high street evolve. That is why we have set out an ambitious Action Plan in the Autumn Budget, to support the sustainable transformation of high streets.
