To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what assurance he can provide that female staff on the minimum of the London grade seven pay scale in his Department will get to the maximum of that pay scale if they remain at that grade.

There is no guarantee of or automatic progression through pay ranges within the DfT pay structure. Movement through any pay range is achieved through the application of a pay award, the value of which is in excess of any changes to the values of pay range maxima and minima. Annual pay awards are negotiated with the unions and based on Civil Service Pay Policy and the funds available for any given year.
